Yoga Kuranta is a series of Iyengar style asanas (postures/poses) practised with the help and support of wall ropes (“Kuranta” means puppet or doll made from wood).
The practitioner is suspended from the ropes like a puppet.
The rope wall was first developed and refined by the late B.K.S. Iyengar. According to his daughter, Geeta S Iyengar, the rope wall is an invaluable tool for students who are stiff, weak and unable to perform certain asanas independently.
The ropes work by using gravity as a natural form of resistance, causing the body to open much further than in regular yoga practice
It is especially beneficial for spine health through use of traction to relieve pressure from compressed vertebral discs.
Improves body alignment creating deep opening in the organic body, which nourishes the organs, soothes the nerves, and quiets the mind.
Yoga Kuranta is for all age, size or level of practice.
